Dear Members,

     Well, we have had a very full and interesting 2010 so far.  In March, we opened the exhibit of our restored samplers with a fashion show using clothing from our collection.  It was  very successful and the sampler exhibit will be in place until the end of June, in case you haven’t seen it yet.

     In April, a group of 50 travelled to Gettysburg, PA, and we had a great trip.  We did an informal poll on the way home and the consensus was to look into a visit to the homes of Jefferson, Madison and Monroe for next spring’s trip, so  look for more information early next year.

     Our Spring Lecture Series was well attended, especially the movie on the Blue Comet.  It seems that trains are very popular, so we are looking into doing some programs in the future, partnering with local train buffs.

     The Historic House Tour took place on May 15th and the weather was beautiful.  Over 190 people toured our early homes and gardens.  We’ve already begun planning next year’s tour.

     We’re also making plans for this year’s Founders Days and Art for History Auction.  We hope you’ll join us for both events.  Both benefit the Society and enable us to continue with our programs and exhibits as well as care for our collection.

     And, finally, this summer looks like a busy one and we’re relying on our volunteers to get us through it.  If you have some time to give to the Museum, please call Harry, our Volunteer Director.
